The Neckarsteig Gundelsheim-Bad Wimpfen stage runs from the Teutonic town of Gundelsheim via Guttenberg Castle in Haßmersheim-Neckarmühlbach, Bad Rappenau-Heinsheim to Bad Wimpfen and is 13.5 km long.
The Neckarsteig leads directly past Guttenberg Castle. It is a late medieval hilltop castle that was never destroyed and has been continuously inhabited for almost 800 years.
The complex is home to the German Griffin Observatory as well as a castle museum and a restaurant.
In theJewish cemetery outside the Bad Rappenau suburb of Heinsheim, the dead from Bad Rappenau and 25 other Jewish communities in the surrounding area have been buried since the 16th century.
It is one of the most impressive Jewish cemeteries in southern Germany.
The former synagogue in the center of Heinsheim is also a testimony to ancient Jewish history.
The mountain church, first mentioned in the 10th century, is a sacred building and therefore one of the oldest buildings. The Castle Ehrenberg above Heinsheim dates back to the 12th century.
You can see the landmark of Bad Wimpfen, the Blue Tower, from afar.
Bad Wimpfen is the largest imperial palace north of the Alps and, with its impressive town history, is a highlight for which you should plan a little more time.
