Auf der Fährte des Rothirsches - 1. Etappe Freudenstadt - Besenfeld - Variante 1 a

Stage 1 of our hiking tour: from Hotel Teuchelwald through the hilly countryside north-east of Freudenstadt to Seewald-Besenfeld and Hotel Oberwiesenhof.

You start at Hotel Teuchelwald and reach the town center of Freudenstadt via the Rosenweg and Wölperwiesenweg after a short walk. You enter the market square at the town church, which is unique with its angled hook shape. The water area with 50 bubbling fountains invites you to take a break, and the town hall with its local history museum is also worth a visit. Now leave Germany's largest market square and head out of town on the Ostweg.

The first half of the route leads through the foothills of the Black Forest with many meadows and fields and beautiful views of the surrounding villages and the Swabian Alb mountain range on the horizon. Several rest & barbecue areas invite you to take a relaxing break on the route via Wittlensweiler, Grüntal-Frutenhof, Musbach and Igelsberg.

On the last section, you hike through extensive forests, past the Königswart ruins, to the idyllic village of Besenfeld. The Hotel Oberwiesenhof is located in the middle of the village.
