Through the Lower Neckar Valley wine region from Weinsberg via Heilbronn to the Schozach Valley.
Starting from the town center in Weinsberg, the Württemberg Wine Trail runs into the Lower Neckar Valley wine region via Heilbronn and Flein to Talheim.
Weinsberg, the town of loyal women and wine, was once also home to the poet doctor Justinus Kerner. During the Romantic era, he received an illustrious company of outstanding personalities of his time here. Weinsberg and the Kernerhaus thus became a kind of pilgrimage site for Swabian Romanticism. Kerner's memory is still preserved today in his former home. A guided tour of the Kernerhaus provides an entertaining insight into those times.
The memory of the poet is tastefully preserved at the Staatsweingut Weinsberg - just around the corner from the Kernerhaus. The Riesling-like new variety was first cultivated here in 1929 under the name Kerner. For some years now, this white Württemberger has been experiencing a small renaissance thanks to the "Justinus K." quality initiative - now as a dry wine of the highest quality.
In Heilbronn, the route first leads to the Wartberg. Here, wine lovers should pay attention to the Wine Panorama Trail. Lots of information, anecdotes and art along the way accompany the ascent to the Wartberg tower.
The trail continues through the Schilfsandsteinbruch nature reserve near the Jägerhaus towards Trappensee lake on the outskirts of Heilbronn. There are numerous wineries and wine taverns around the Trappensee where you can stop for a bite to eat.
The Württemberg Wine Trail continues along the Kranzweg between the wooded hilltop and vineyards through the Heilbronn city forest and Ludwigschanze up towards Staufenberg. A beautiful vantage point that is worth climbing, even if the summit is not directly on the trail.
From here, the route leads through vineyards, forests and fields down to the wine village of Flein. Excellent and award-winning wines have been produced here for centuries. The "Flein Historical Town Tour" offers a glimpse into the past of the wine-growing community at 11 stops. And if you like, you can take a detour up to the Eselsberg. There, hikers can expect a beautiful view over the Deinenbach valley, a sundial and information about winegrowing in Flein.A short ascent to the Haigern viewpoint follows until you reach your stage destination - Talheim. The Haigern not only offers an excellent view of the Heilbronn basin, but also a great distant view of the Odenwald as far as the Heuchelberg and Stromberg mountains.
