We recommend a visit to the wine museum in Pfedelbach. The showpiece there is the huge princely barrel. It was created in 1752 and could hold 64,664 liters of wine. If one person were to drink three liters a day from it, the contents could last 59 years and 26 days.

The first building society in Germany was founded in Wüstenrot . The building society museum is open from May to September, on Sundays and public holidays from 2 to 5 p.m. or on request from the municipality of Wüstenrot, telephone 07945 / 9199-0. The glass and local history museum is located in the old town hall, now the community center. Wüstenrot is located in the district of Heilbronn and in the Mainhardt Forest at an altitude of 490 meters.

Georg Fahrbach medal for tower keeper

In Neuhütten, the Steinknickle observation tower offers a panoramic view over the Mainhardt Forest and as far north as the Odenwald. On a clear day, you can see the Katzenbuckel, the highest mountain in the Odenwald. The tower keeper has been Eugen Baum for 25 years. He likes to smoke a cigar and have philosophical conversations. A quarter of a century as tower keeper is worthy of all honors. That is why Baum has been awarded the Georg Fahrbach Medal. The occasion was the 50th anniversary of the Schwäbischer Albverein lookout tower. The anniversary was celebrated in 2007. It is 15 kilometers from Öhringen to the observation tower.The tower stands on a hill (525 meters) and is 30 meters high. It is climbed by around 2,500 paying visitors every year. Eugen Baum sells drinks and ice cream at the bottom of the tower. Opening hours Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, lunch break 11 am to 12 noon.
