The hike through the peaceful countryside around Ostrach leads past a former fishing pond belonging to Salem Monastery.
The tour starts at Ostrach town hall and leads out of the village into the countryside. Around halfway along the route is the hill on which Arnoldsberg Castle once stood. However, nothing can be seen of it today. The castle was sold to Salem Abbey in 1324. The pond on the way to the castle hill was once a fishing pond belonging to Salem Abbey. If you would like to find out more about the history of Ostrach, you can pay a visit to the local history museum on the way back.
