After a stroll through the picturesque old town of Weißenhorn, we first head into the quiet, wide valley of the Roth. In Attenhofen, the Engelhard family has been using the water of the Roth to power their mill since 1789. From Remmeltshofen, the tour leads via Finningen through the Ried to the Plessenteich bird sanctuary in the Neu-Ulm district of Gerlenhofen. 200 different bird species have already been spotted here. The lake has been maintained by the Gerlenhofen working group (FGAU) since 2004 with great voluntary commitment. The observation tower offers exciting views of the birds resting or breeding here at any time of year.
We return to the starting point via Stadtpark Senden and Illerberg.
