Ahlberg-Reinersen-Rundweg

Through the romantic Holzkapetal valley, accompanied by numerous nesting boxes of various kinds on the new nesting box forest bird nature trail, past the deserted village of Reinersen, a medieval pottery village, the route leads up to the Ahlberg on forest and meadow paths. Its rampart complex on the summit plateau is the only known settlement in the Reinhardswald dating back to the Iron Age around 800 BC. Passing the game reserve gate through the "Bärenloch", you will then reach the Rothbalzer Teich, a beautiful nature reserve, on natural paths. The region around Immenhausen, including the Ahlberg, was once used for mining. Some evidence of this can still be seen in nature today.
Incidentally, the deserted village of Reinersen is said to have given Reinhardswald its name. The former pottery village therefore plays an important role for the entire region. If you look hard enough, you can still find pottery shards and remains here.
