Eco Pfad "Muschelkalk im Diemeltal"

The 9.3-kilometre circular trail takes you over the ridges and through the Diemel valley in around three hours. Discover natural and archaeological treasures along the way and enjoy the wonderful view down into the Diemel valley while relaxing on a landscape lounger.
The trail winds its way through lime-beech forests with colorful spring flowers to the so-called "nose" of the Schwiemelkopf. In the valley, the geological outcrops of the lower shell limestone are visible along the Diemel cycle path. On the Stenderberg opposite, you can find out what pottery shards and remains of walls from times gone by tell us. And in Ostheim, you can cross the impressive and species-rich juniper heath. Incidentally, this is where the juniper berries for the regional Diemel Dry Gin from St. Albert's Distillery are harvested and processed on site. The hike takes you on a journey through 240 million years of the earth's history and shows the wealth of species and beauty that has developed here over a long period of time.
