The Spessart trail starts at the "Barbarossaquelle" parking lot. From the starting point, the trail follows the road into the forest. The trail meanders towards the Junkernkopf, where the Spessart Trail meets the Spessartbogen. Over the Karlsberg, the trail leads out of the forest again at the "Edelweißhütte" near Gondsroth. Here there are views of Somborn and the Spessart. At the forest nature trail, the path climbs again in the forest and passes the forest playground and the "Dicke Tanne" refuge. Now it goes downhill into the Rodenbach valley back to the starting point.
