Wein- und Kelter-Route

Valleys, hills, fine wines - from Fellbach via Kernen to Weinstadt and back via Waiblingen.

From the train station Fellbach, the route leads along Bahnhofstraße, past the town's landmark, the Lutherkirche and the town hall. You leave Fellbach via Hintere Straße and Kelterweg on the extended Stettener Straße and continue to Stetten, a district of the community of Kernen. The ruins of a fortress built in the 13th century with the peculiar name "Yburg" tower high above the village. A detour gives you sweeping views as far as the Neckar valley or special wine knowledge through the ascent via the Stetten Wine Trail.

Past the castle, you then reach the picturesque wine village of Strümpfelbach, which overwhelms its visitors with a magnificent half-timbered backdrop from the 16th and 17th centuries. From Strümpfelbach, the trail continues slightly uphill past the "Käppele", a late Gothic chapel and resting point on the St. Jakob pilgrimage route on a hill in the middle of the vineyards before you reach Beutelsbach. Here, it is worth visiting the collegiate church, once the burial place of the Lords of Württemberg, which towers high above the market square. Via Großheppach, the starting point of military operations in the Battle of Höchstädt at the beginning of the 17th century, the route continues via Beinstein to Waiblingen, with an idyllic old town that is well worth a detour. The route then heads back to Fellbach through the allotments.</p
