Juniper Hiking Trail

Not only the eponymous juniper, but also numerous rare and strictly protected plant species inhabit the barren, dry locations of the "Alteberg and Sauernberg" and "Wacholderheide" nature reserves near Donsbach. The varied semi-open landscape, a former hay meadow, also provides an ideal habitat for a wide variety of wildlife, such as the endangered birds great grey shrike and woodlark. On closer inspection, the meadows still provide a habitat for 50 butterfly and 22 grasshopper species with many rare and endangered representatives.

For nature lovers, the small tree nature trail in the Reistenbach valley and the CO2 nature trail from Hessen-Forst at Haigerer Tor, which provides interesting visual and tactile insights into a very topical subject, are also exciting.

For tired feet, on the other hand, the Waat pedal facility with a small barefoot path is relaxing. The Sandorbbach stream provides cool spring water for cooling off.

The Donsbach Wildlife Park offers a contrasting program with its 13 "big" animal species and a petting zoo, which is open all year round. Young visitors in particular will find plenty to marvel at and experience in the wildlife park.</p
