A bike tour through the Bucher Brack

From Jerichow Monastery, follow the Old Elbe along Klietznick to the Elbe River. Here, turn right and after about 1.3km turn right again to return to Klietznick and then follow the same route back to the monastery.

Description

Our bike tour starts on the Romanesque Road, at Jerichow Monastery. The Romanesque monastery complex with the 3-naved basilica is one of the oldest brick buildings east of the Elbe and is open to visitors with its museum. From here, we ride along the old Elbe, through Klietznick to the Elbe River. Now, turn right and stay about 1.3km close to the Elbe. Turning right again will lead you back to Klietznick. From here, continue on the same route back to Jerichow Monastery. Here, you can end the tour at the inn located right next to the parking lot or enjoy the tranquility of the monastery garden.

Our bike tour starts on the Romanesque Road, at Jerichow Monastery. The Romanesque monastery complex with the 3-naved basilica is one of the oldest brick buildings east of the Elbe and is open to visitors with its museum. From here, we ride along the old Elbe, through Klietznick to the Elbe River. We are in the Bucher Brack nature reserve, located in the floodplain of the northern Elbe. It is not surprising that this area is a paradise for marsh and water birds. At the Elbe River, follow the path to the right, staying close to the shore for about 1.3 km before turning right again. The bike path now takes you back through the untouched nature to Klietznick. Along the way, you will discover the observation tower, which offers a wonderful view over the vast landscape. Klietznick itself is a small, charming, and lovable place. Special features include a historic bakehouse, a vineyard with an observation tower, the annual tree-lined avenue, a natural playground, and a nature stage. From here, continue on the same route back to Jerichow Monastery. Here, you can end the tour at the inn located right next to the parking lot.
