Description

The hike begins with a highlight: the solar observatory. The circular path leads you through deciduous forests, past orchards and fields, with a wide view of the landscape.
Along the way, you can enjoy the view of the Saaleaue valley, Goseck Castle, and the vineyards.
The sleepy village of Eulau with the Eulau manor is also worth a detour.

Route description

In the Heiligtalgrund, there is a junction at the old waterworks and another option to reach the Eichenwald on a magnificent forest path and then through an old cherry plantation with a view of Eulau. The unmarked option is included in the hiking map of the Grünes Herz. The hike invites you to many detours/crossings, with small surprises along the way, e.g., an old boundary stone, with a note that trespassing will be punished with a payment of 3 marks - well, if that doesnt invite you to trespass. The junction leads to the Silbertalgrund where the March lilies are in full bloom in spring. Of course, a highlight is Goseck Castle, definitely worth a visit as well as the information center for the solar observatory. There are options for connections to other hiking trails, e.g., the circular trail around Goseck. An important note for orientation before starting the hike: in the center of Goseck, there is an information board with the depiction of the hiking trails around Goseck.

Parking information

At the entrance of Goseck on the left side, use the parking lot of the solar observatory. The parking lot at the castle has only a limited number of spaces.
