Pilgrimage route section Beeskow– Zaue – Lübben

A stylised shell indicates the route that forms part of a historical network used by Jacobean pilgrims throughout the whole of Europe. In 2019, a new section is to be signposted and likewise travelled by pilgrims. It forms section of the main route from Frankfurt/Oder to Leipzig. The starting point for the first pilgrimage on June 15/16, 2019 is the town of Beeskow. A visit will be paid to the pilgrimage statue at the church of St. Mary. Following a mainly natural path, pilgrims are guided along a nature trail to Leichhardt Land, so it is also possible to visit the church in Trebatsch. Further along Lake Schwielochsee, the path leads to Zaue and the medieval church of St. Mary: here there is ample historical evidence that the route was used by pilgrims in past eras. Pilgrims will stay the night at the rectory which will be festively inaugurated as a pilgrims’ hostel. The next day, the journey goes on via Guhlen and Lake Briesensee to the Paul Gerhardt town of Lübben.
