Precious on the Sernitz

The Sernitzniederung between Greiffenberg and Biesenbrow reveals to the mindful hiker a wondrous nature of wet meadows, sedge grass, springs, and peat forests. Here it teems and bustles, just as Mother Nature pleases. This ideal habitat for rare plants and birds is part of the EU bird protection area Schorfheide-Chorin. The life-Schreiadler project (lifeschreiadler.de) is active here, and exotic water buffalo feel at home. The Kleine Schäferei Biesenbrow delights hungry heath hikers with a great lamb cuisine and a charming, small-scale farming atmosphere.Directions:The UckermarkShuttle takes you from Angermünde to Greiffenberg. The Heidenwanderweg, marked with a yellow dot on a white background, leads for about 6 km through a small, wild flora and fauna paradise to Biesenbrow. Here at the Kleine Schäferei Biesenbrow, indulge, perhaps stay overnight, and then take the call bus back to Angermünde. Bring sturdy footwear and binoculars!For those who want to hike longer, take the Uckermärkische Landrunde hiking trail from Angermünde via Mürow and Welsow to Biesenbrow. Leisurely hike in about 6 hours (17 km).Definitely worth a visit:Before starting the hike, make time for two Greiffenberg highlights: A visit to the species-rich VERN show garden (Association for the Preservation and Recultivation of Useful Plants, @vern.de). Here, visitors learn about ancient cultivated plants. Rare seeds can be purchased. The earth-holland mill impresses with a detailed, loving restoration. The interior tour shows old craftsmanship techniques and provides beautiful photo opportunities. And outside, visitors are delighted with a beautiful panoramic view of their upcoming hiking route to Biesenbrow.
