The Route 31 Southeast leads through the Salzgitter districts of Barum, Lobmachtersen, Flachstöckheim, Ohlendorf, Groß Mahner, Beinum, Calbecht, Engerode, Gebhardshagen, and Heerte. The path through the mostly small villages and rural areas in the southeast of the city follows along field paths and unpaved terrain.A worthwhile side trip is the Heerter See. Two observation huts invite you to observe the rich birdlife. Todays bird reserve can be easily circled on foot.This idyllic circular route is mostly flat and without significant inclines.
