The signposted Hunte cycle path, about 137 km long, leads from Elsfleth to Lake Dümmer. First, you cycle through the Wesermarsch with its dykes, salt marshes, and vast marsh and moor landscapes. A stop in the bike-friendly city of Oldenburg is worthwhile for a stroll through the cozy old town. Then begins a landscape spectacle of a very special kind in the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park. The river section between Wardenburg and Wildeshausen is one of the most beautiful and ecologically significant along the Hunte. Exchange your bike for a canoe for a day to experience this idyll from the water. Enjoy the Barneführer Holz, the Osenberge, or a swim in Lake Hartensberg in Goldenstedt. Then on to the final stage to the Dümmer Nature Park with its 16 sqkm Lake Dümmer. There, the Hüde nature conservation station and the Dümmer Museum in Lembruch are worth a visit.
