Hiking trail A 1 - Around the village with the church

The circular hiking trail starts in the small Rheda-Wiedenbrück community of St. Vit. Here you can first visit the beautiful baroque parish church before setting off on the trail.

The path first leads you through the St. Viter Busch, then continues to the left via the Wieksweg until the Geweckenhorster Straße on the left. Then you cross a bridge over the A2 motorway. From the bridge, you have a good view of the Stromberg Heights to the southwest. To the northeast, you can see the district of Rheda with the tower of the evangelical town church. To the right of the motorway, you can see the district of Wiedenbrück with the tower of the Aegidius Church and further to the right, the tower of the Marienkirche. In the background, on a clear day, you can see the mountains of the Teutoburg Forest.

After crossing the Oelder Straße, the path continues into the Hambusch, a wooded area that once belonged to the princely family of Bentheim-Tecklenburg and served as a recreational area. Here, there are some partially sensible, more natural shortcuts available in case the path is too long for you. After passing through this wooded area and crossing the Oelder Straße again in a southerly direction, the path leads you through the Radheide past Gut Neuhaus back to the starting point.
