R 8: Through Wiedenbrück and its farming communities

A very special circular route is the R 8. Rocky paths and tractor tracks are a real challenge for cyclists. The tour starts right in the middle of Flora-Westfalica Park, the former site of the State Garden Show. Over roots, rocks, and farm roads, you pass by a remarkable industrial monument, the "Old Brickworks", which now has a museum character and is definitely worth a visit. Shortly afterwards, you head towards the next attraction: The Amplifier Office - a unique radio and television museum in Germany with an extremely interesting and diverse collection. After 2-3 km, you reach the cozy village of St. Vit, with its Baroque church built in 1736. The tower built later is already noticeable from afar. Continue cycling through fields and meadows until you reach the old manor farm "Haus Aussel", where you should definitely take a break. The wonderfully restored manor farm impresses with its idyllic location and impressive architecture.

In a northeasterly direction, you then come to the cozy forest area of Stadtholz. Here, there are various opportunities to enjoy nature. And it is exactly at this point that you encounter the shortest river in Germany - the Ems, which you follow for quite a distance. Along the river, you continue into the historic city center of Wiedenbrück, where you can admire the wonderfully restored half-timbered houses and also treat yourself to a well-deserved refreshment.
