Werre, Else and Stift Quernheim (day tour HF3)

This well-traveled circuit with no significant inclines offers, on the one hand, a cycling pleasure through the partially very natural floodplains of the rivers Werre and Else, and on the other hand, a ride through the gently rolling cultural landscape of Quernheim and Löhne-Mennighüffen with beautiful renovated historical farmhouses and the state-recognized recreational area of Randringhausen.
After starting in Löhne, you first pass through the Elseaue and past the go-kart track and the Aqua Fun leisure pool in Kirchlengern. At the level of the Mühlenbach, the route turns north and you comfortably and without significant inclines reach Randringhausen along the Mühlenbach and the Ostbach. The old farmhouse bath invites you to linger with a 266-hectare landscape park and some dining options. Shortly afterwards, you reach the collegiate church in Stift Quernheim, which was built as a monastery church in the 12th century. The manor house next to the church now houses the Biological Station Ravensberger Land. After a nice ride through rural settlements, meadows, fields, and the Ulenburger Forest, on the left side of the path lies Schloss Ulenburg, a moated castle dating back to 1570, built in the Weser Renaissance style. Finally, you return to the starting point of the tour in Löhne via Löhne-Mennighüffen.
The route is almost exclusively on independent cycle paths with a well-traveled water-bound surface and asphalted agricultural roads, some of which are closed to through traffic. Due to the very low traffic volume, the circular route is also suitable for families with children.
As an alternative starting point, Kirchlengern train station is recommended, which also offers parking facilities and can be reached from Herford or Bad Oeynhausen by Regional Express or Eurobahn. Limited bicycle transport is possible here.
