From Rödinghausen to Westkilver: "twas duüer"
120 years ago, ordinary people walked! They walked on winding, uneven field paths when they wanted to go to the neighboring village, often from church to church. Two villages located in a hilly landscape, in a typical East Westphalian landscape! And there is plenty of countryside between the church spires.
Along the way, people would meet relatives, acquaintances, and friends who were working in the fields and meadows. Often, there would be a short chat, and surely the weather was a topic of conversation. Livestock would often be found at the wayside, with goats frequently tethered. Roadside verges with many brightly blooming wildflowers were not uncommon - passing through, "twas duüer," as they say in Rödinghausen in Plattdeutsch.
