3rd Stage Wilderness Trail

On the third stage of the Wilderness Trail from Gemünd to Heimbach, you will hike through the Kermeter. This ridge with its old beech forests was the decisive reason for the designation of the Eifel National Park.
Interesting stops along the way
You start at the spa park in Gemünd. Impressive beech and oak forests of the Kermeter ridge accompany you. You can expect a great view over swaying treetops from the fire lookout tower in Wolfgarten. Take a break at the National Park host hotel-restaurant "Kermeterschänke". At the Mariawald Monastery, you can take a refreshing break and visit the only Trappist monastery of the male branch in Germany. Let yourself be impressed by the nature reserve "Wiegelskammer". The destination is the National Park Gateway Heimbach.
