Espelkamp - Land, Water and Pen

At the start at Wilhelm-Kern-Platz in Espelkamp, the circuit first runs westward through the city center, then through the southwestern outskirts, past the new residential area "Zur Ratzenburg" and the new sports center of FC Preußen, the Mittwald Park.
On the way to the recreation area Große Aue, you first pass through a forest and then reach the Auesee. The journey continues on quiet side roads through beautiful nature, constantly passing fields, meadows, and forest areas with individual farms and half-timbered houses.
Via Vehlage and the southern Destel, it goes to Levern. Along the way, there is the opportunity to stop at the Gasthaus Rose. Shortly before Levern, a visit to the mill site with a museum is worthwhile, where entertaining programs and of course freshly baked cakes can be enjoyed on mill days.
In Levern, the collegiate church and many half-timbered houses can be admired. This is followed by an excursion to Rila and then through the scenic lowlands of the Großer Diek River towards the Mittelland Canal. The canal is followed until the exit Schloss Benkhausen, where the castle with the park grounds can be visited and a short break can be taken in the Rentei or the newly developed circular hiking trail can be explored.
On the way back to the starting point, you first go back over country roads to the northern Gestringen and further into the city center, past the new residential area "Ostlandpark". At the finish, there are numerous dining options to refresh yourself and end the journey.
