Energy Explorer Route Middle Weser (South Route)

Why does it flash during a thunderstorm? How is electricity generated? What are renewable energies? How is biogas produced? What are energy crops? You will find answers to these questions when you ride the Energy Explorer Route Mittelweser, the first of its kind in Germany.

The approximately 100 km long route is divided into a northern (43 km) and southern route (65 km) and connects different energy sites (No. 1-21), all of which have one thing in common: they prove that the use of renewable energies in the Mittelweser region is already commonplace. You can experience contributions to electricity supply and climate protection that have been put into practice. Wind and water energy are explained through historical wind and water mills to the most modern wind turbines. Solar energy is explained through photovoltaic systems and the first solar refueling station in Lower Saxony. The power of the Weser River is harnessed through the Drakenburg hydroelectric power plant. Combined heat and power plants and biogas plants with various usage concepts complete the picture.
