Aller-Heide cycle path

The tour leads along the Geest ridge through small idyllic farming villages as well as gently rolling forest, moor and heathland around the village of Kirchlinteln. South of the Verden Heath, you will come across the River Aller and Allermarsch with fertile fields and pastures. Along the route, you will experience not only mostly untouched nature but also the equestrian town of Verden with a history of over 1000 years. Sights such as the cathedral, historic churches, German Horse Museum, Historical Museum Domherrenhaus, Sachsenhain, Verden Dunes, burial mounds, heathlands, Eitzer water mill, and much more are located along the way.

In Kirchlinteln, the Gallery Windmill Schmömühle, the Miller's House, St. Petri Church, Lintler Krug, Verden Moor, the nature reserve "Burial Mounds Heath", the juniper heath, and the nature reserve "Hühnermoor" are worth seeing.

In Lehringen, the skeleton of a forest elephant over 100,000 years old was found in 1948. A spear made of yew wood was still stuck in its ribs. It is one of the oldest spears ever found. The "Lance of Lehringen" is exhibited in the Historical Museum Domherrenhaus in Verden.
