Pilgrim's Way (Tour 1)

The place Bruchhausen-Vilsen has around 40 km of marked hiking trails. By combining different paths, circular routes of various lengths (Tour 1-Tour 7) are created. You will walk through gentle hills, fields, lush meadows, past streams, and through untouched nature around Bruchhausen-Vilsen.

The diversity of nature and the charms of the seasons make these trails exploratory adventures. Places to stop for refreshments, points of interest, and special features are included in the respective tour descriptions. The routes are easy to recognize thanks to the signage and generally lead along well-maintained paths.

Tour 1 Monk's Path from Vilsen to Heiligenberg (3 km, Marking: Monk):

Special features: Upper water mill of the former monastery (monastery mill), Kneipp open-air facility, Forester's Lodge Heiligenberg, ring wall system, historical trains on the narrow-gauge railway on weekends from May 1st to October 3rd.

The tour starts with a leisurely stroll through Bruchhausen-Vilsen. From Brautstraße, behind the Vilser church, the path leads along the linden avenue past the cemetery to the Wiehe-Bad and into the spa park. From there, it continues past the old Vilsa fountain through the birch avenue via Homfeld through meadows and fields to the monastery mill and up to the ring wall.

In the Middle Ages, a monastery was located under its protection, hence the name of this area, Heiligenberg, today the "Forester's Lodge Heiligenberg". From here, you can reach Heiligenberg station in 20 minutes via the Dillertal. From there, you can return via Tour 2 Kleinbahnweg (Marking: Steam Locomotive) or on weekends from May 1st to October 3rd with the museum railway.
