In Barme you will find a hill with a surrounding moat, once there stood a medieval castle, a so-called "motte", with a half-timbered tower. In the forest of Diensthope there are several burial mounds: round mounds with a diameter of 10 to 20 meters, about one to two meters high. Most of them date back to the Bronze Age and are 3500 years old. The dead rest in them as they were buried at that time. In the reenactment burial mound in Diensthop, you can take a look inside. A vertical profile wall divides the hill. In front of it stands a mighty oak coffin.
South of Hülsen you will come across the remains of a Landwehr (medieval border fortification), intersected by sunken lanes. At the fire station in Hülsen, there are two boundary stones from 1575 with inscriptions and coats of arms. Snede is an old word for border. At the outskirts of Hülsen, you will see the Kaliberg, the spoil heap from the potash mine. In the industrial area of Hülsen, two signs remind of a rural settlement where Germanic people lived 2000 years ago. In the west, the church with the round tower and the manor house from 1770 are worth seeing.
