Sea breeze, salty air, wind, and seagull cries characterize this section of the Elbe Cycle Path. Here, the Elbe Cycle Path shows its maritime side. Cuxhaven and Brunsbüttel are the central locations on both sides of the Elbe in this section. At times, the opposite bank of the Elbe disappears beyond the horizon. The high dykes with numerous sheep gates testify to a long tradition of coastal protection. Fishing has left its mark on the towns, as has maritime navigation.
