In the center of Herzogenrath we encounter witnesses from the Middle Ages with Burg Rode and remnants of the city wall. Then we dive into the green tunnel of the nature-protected Broichbachtal with a babbling brook, floodplain forests, and agricultural tradition. On the horizon, the Noppenberg heap stands out in the panorama and reminds us, like the Zopp settlement, of the times of mining. The industrial monument Energeticon presents itself in a new function. Instead of coal, today the focus is on tourist information, museum, and energy sources of the future.
