Immerse yourself in the World Heritage Site, Grumsin a forest like no other! As one of the most beautiful beech forests worldwide, Grumsin became part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Ancient Beech Forests of Germany in 2011. The World Heritage Site subarea has not been economically used for more than 20 years. Slowly, it can develop back into a "primeval forest". The information point offers information about the flora and fauna of Grumsin, its history, and significance.
First inform, then hike, because the World Heritage Site Beech Forest Grumsin is the focus of this enjoyable hike. TIP: Bring binoculars and a "nature guide for on the go" with you, as it's fun to identify the many species on the spot. The hiking section from Altkünkendorf to Luisenhof runs along the World Heritage Site Beech Forest Grumsin and is certainly the most dynamic section of the Grumsin enjoyment hiking trail. Deep depressions and rugged ridges are the striking legacy of gigantic, compressed glaciers. The beech trees in the also protected utility forest zone (buffer zone) and the direct view into the World Heritage Beech Forest are an impressive nature experience. Here, absolute "do not enter!" A ridge leads deeper into the forest. The further you hike, the larger and more impressive the beech trees become. Just before Schmargendorf, the diverse field boundary impresses.
