From the parking lot below the castle ruins, follow a well-maintained forest path in an easterly direction. It leads around the Kalkrosenberg, if you always go right. The location name Kalkrosenberg is a modification of Kalkröste-Berg (burning lime). Presumably, limestone was once processed here into a versatile building material using one of the oldest and most significant production methods to date. If you still have time after this short distance, you can enjoy the view of the city area next door or tackle one of the other routes that start at the hiking parking lot in Lichtenberg.
