Cultural Route Alternative Route: Stage 9b Peine - Hildesheim

You begin the journey with the sights of the beautiful city of Peine. It starts with a visit to the BrauManufaktur Härke directly in the city center after making a reservation. Now follow the 66m high spire of St. Jakobi Church. Take a look inside and at the impressive painting. Further through the city center, you will come across Burgpark directly at the historic marketplace. Peine Marketing, the tourist information office in downtown Peine, also offers great information. Near Burgpark, you will find the Kreismuseum. The Kreismuseum Peine tells the history and stories of the city and region of Peine. With Museum.Schatz.Suche, families can take an interactive tour through the museum for free and without registration! Before leaving Peine, make sure to visit the factory outlet at JR - The Chocolate Factory. Try the delicious chocolate flavors. Strengthened, you can now head to Eixer See. From Eixer See, head north past Glindbruchkippe glider airfield. Here, the Mittelland Canal becomes your companion, and you can already see the steaming chimneys of the Mehrum power plant; fields as far as the eye can see – that is the Hildesheim Börde. Accordingly, this section of the route is very flat and ideal for cycling. From Asel, it is only a few kilometers south to Hildesheim. Behind Borsumer Holz, one of the largest forest areas in the Börde, you can see the St. Andreas Church tower in Hildesheim, the tallest church tower in Lower Saxony. Passing by Müggelsee, you will soon reach the Hildesheim city center with its many sights.
