Description by the author

Albert Einstein takes you to his summer idyll in Caputh and Potsdam. On the hike you will get to know some background of his research, experience his summer house, enjoy the wide pine forests, and be impressed by the architecture of the Einstein Tower. On the way back with the White Fleet, you can feel how much Einstein must have enjoyed escaping the hustle and bustle of the big city with his sailboat on Lake Templin.

The exhibition provides insights into the life of Albert Einstein, his theories of space, time and gravity, as well as the architecture and the architect of the summer house Konrad Wachsmann. A model of his sailboat "Bottlenose Dolphin" gets you in the mood for the Caputher lake landscape. Follow the "Straße der Einheit" to the right into Lindenstraße, then turn left into "Rosenstraße" and further left into the street "Am Waldrand", where albert-Einstein's summer house can be found. It was here that Albert Einstein spent the summer months of 1929-1933 until autumn, pondering his unified field theory in the quiet environment and receiving friends and scholars from all over the world. Back on the road "Am Waldrand", follow it until you meet the intersection, where you turn left into the forest onto the Caputher Heuweg. Follow this until you reach the next large intersection, turn left again until you reach the Michendorfer Chaussee after a few kilometers. Cross the road and cross the bridge and turn right into the forest. Here the area "Ravensberge" begins and you follow the nature trail "Ravensberge", which is marked with a green cross line on a white background. At the rest area, follow the path straight ahead to the "Kleiner Ravensberg" and from here follow the long-distance hiking trail E10 with the blue crossbar until you come to the Albert Einstein Science Park on the left.  Internationally recognized scientific institutions are located on the site. An orientation sheet is available from the gatekeeper, a sign points the way to the world-famous "Einstein Tower". Between 1920 and 1922 it was built by the architect Erich Mendelsohn in the expressionist style as a solar observatory and used to test the theory of relativity. While strolling through the grounds, you can find more historical and modern buildings related to earth sciences, astronomy and climate impact research. Albert-Einstein-Straße leads down the mountain to Potsdam Central Station. For the way back along the Templiner Lake, you can rent next-bike bicycles, or you can walk over the Long Bridge to the pier of the White Fleet and make the way back on the water. At the stop Caputher Schloss you are back at the starting point of the hike.
