Bike Arena Sauerland - Schmallenberger Acht

After starting in Schmallenberg and tackling a steep climb from Grafschaft to Winkhausen, the first highlight of the tour is already following: the long ascent through one of the most beautiful valleys of the Sauerland region: the Sorpetal up to the Großen Bildchen. Via Altastenberg, we reach the Kahlen Asten, the highest mountain in NRW that can be cycled with a racing bike. After passing through Neuastenberg and a fast descent into the Odeborn Valley, it's time to glide leisurely to Dödesberg. This is urgently needed, as there are about 6 km of steady ascent up to the Albrechtplatz. This is followed by one of the most fantastic descents far and wide. A stop at the parking lot just behind the pass summit is almost a must due to the breathtaking view. On the further descent, some switchbacks almost create an Alpine feeling. From Oberkirchen, we follow the race track of the annual road bike race "Around the Wilzenberg" to Grafschaft, the starting and finishing point of the race. Until Fleckenberg, the Latrop Valley offers a bit of relaxation before a steep climb brings us to Werpe. In the following kilometers through Haverland and parts of the SauerlandRadring, we can expect undulating terrain until Dorlar. From Dorlar, the climb becomes increasingly steeper towards the Hennetal. Upon reaching Rimberg, a few beautiful switchbacks lead down to Bad Fredeburg. From here, it's all downhill over the old railway track of the SauerlandRadring back to the starting point at the Tourist Information in Schmallenberg.
