The 46 km long circular tour starts in Rosche. There it is worth
taking a look at St. John's Church, consecrated in 1862 in the presence of King Georg V.
Let's head east, towards Stöcken with the old
Village chapel from around 1400. Its plank ceiling is covered with stencil painting from 1499,
a rare example of a painted Gothic plank ceiling. On a detour to the south, you reach
the water reservoir after about 1.5 km. There you can observe water birds all year round. In summer and
autumn, cranes gather at dusk in the shallow water of the basin, where
they spend the night.Back
in Stöcken, the tour continues to Oetzen. The eye-catcher here is the brick chapel
from the 14th century. To the left of Oetzen lies the Oetzmühle from 1339.You cycle to Jastorf via Oetzendorf. Here it is worth a
detour to Jastorf Lake. In the water bird sanctuary, you can observe from an
observation tower birds such as cormorants, greylag geese, ducks, great crested grebes, marsh harriers, and
even ospreys and kingfishers.Behind Jastorf, you cross the Ilmenau and cycle to the
Elbe Side Canal. On the other side lies the Klein Bünstorfer Heath, which
is particularly beautiful during the summer bloom. It contains a
Bronze Age burial mound field (1,700-1,000 BC) with 59 graves preserved under forest and
heath.Continue to Bad Bevensen, where you can take a good rest:
in the spa park, in the city center, in the saltwater spa.Cycle to Gollern via Groß Hesebeck, where between
high barns the small castle chapel is hidden. The brick building dates back
to the 13th century, has a half-timbered tower and a rustic interior. On the section between Römstedt and Himbergen lies
near Almstorf the Almstorfer Moor nature reserve, an uncultivated
peat bog remnant, characterized by marsh forest and water-filled former peat pits.In Himbergen stands the Bartholomew's Church from 1843 with
a 34-meter high tower and a crucifixion group from the central shrine of a
late Gothic carved altarpiece. Open by appointment, Tel. 05828-633.Through the villages, you return to Rosche. Along the way
there are noteworthy sights such as the bell towers in Weste and Testorf
or the heath cemetery with a thatched chapel. The Wipperau is crossed behind Borg
and shortly thereafter the destination Rosche is reached.
