In the heath village and university town of Suderburg, the 31 km long family circular tour begins. The cycle path leads past St. Remigius Church with its 1,000-year-old fieldstone tower. St. Remigius is a cycle path church, it is reliably open during the day in summer, offering a place to rest, drinking water, a toilet, and information about cycling and accommodation. The church can also be a welcome point of contact at the end of the bike tour. From Suderburg, you cycle on a protected former post road to the heath village of Holxen. Here, a cobblestone road leads to the historic water mill from 1321 on the rushing stream. The powerful water wheel is occasionally put into operation for milling demonstrations. Passing fields and meadows, the tour continues to Klein Süstedt and Hansen. Here, you cross the Gerdau river and behind Hansen, you ride into the Uelzen city forest. The mixed forest with pines, spruces, beeches, oaks, hornbeams, Douglas firs, and larches is a recreational area and provides Uelzen with clean drinking water. On the outskirts of Uelzen, near the clinic, is the wildlife park. It is best explored on foot. From the small viewing tower, you can observe the wild boars, deer, and stags, mouflons, pheasants, and eagle owls. In the enclosure, children can pet goats. The goats and wild boars can be fed - they prefer cucumbers, carrots, and potatoes. The wildlife park is free to access, as is the large children's playground at the edge of the forest. Through the forest with partly ancient trees, the tour continues to Barnsen and to the sailplane and motor flight airfield. From the café terrace, you can dream of flying. If you feel like taking a spontaneous sightseeing flight, ask the flight control. Often, pilots are on-site to take guests for a spin. Behind Barnsen, you cycle a bit through the forest, then the landscape opens up again. Successively, you reach and cross the gold villages of Bohlsen and Böddenstedt. The villages have been awarded multiple times for being so beautiful and livable. Let your gaze wander over stately farmhouses, old trees in the middle of the village, narrow streets, and bridges over heath streams. In Böddenstedt, there is a village tour with information signs at many interesting locations; the starting point is the telephone booth on Dorfstraße. The final stage leads from Böddenstedt back to Suderburg.
