The forest trail lives up to its name. It leads through diverse forest landscapes of the area managed by the monastery administration. Comfortable and easy forest paths alternate with narrow sunken lanes. Away from the main path, you can see the remains of buildings where mines, bombs, and explosive buoys were manufactured for the Navy between 1939 and 1945. All well protected under the dense foliage of the old trees. When you reach the "Purple-Crowning Trail," it's worth taking a detour to the "Three-Country Corner." A large boulder marks the spot where 3 districts meet: Heidekreis, Winsen, and Lüneburg.
