Bike Arena Sauerland - Between Rothaar and Hawerland

After starting in Kirchhundem, you have a few kilometers to prepare your legs for the upcoming challenge. Because then, the first hurdle presents itself with the climb to the Rhein-Weser Tower, where you have to overcome the watershed between the Rhine and Weser rivers. After a dreamy descent, there are a few kilometers to relax in the Eder Valley. Then the next challenge awaits: Once again, the Rothaar Mountains must be conquered. Initially steep and gradually more gentle as the climb progresses, the road winds its way up from Aue-Wingeshausen to Schmallenberg-Jagdhaus. Here, there are several opportunities to replenish lost calories. This is followed by a fantastic descent towards Fleckenberg, but beware: in a tight hairpin turn, the route veers left into the picturesque Uentroptal valley, leading to Lenne. Then comes a relatively short but truly challenging climb through Harbecke up to a wind turbine. Here, cyclists are rewarded with a wide view over the Hawerland. The route speeds down towards Werpe. You can relax on the section through Bracht and a serpentine descent to Oedingen, and on the flat stretch to Oberelspe. Now, there is one last climb up to Halberbracht. After that, between Altenhundem and Kirchhundem, you have the opportunity to release the accumulated tension from your legs.
