Starting at the starting point, you hike through the Ilsetal valley to the shelter/stop Ilsetaler. Here you turn left and follow the signs to Plessenburg. From the forest guesthouse Plessenburg, you walk back downhill towards Ilsenburg to the Ilsetaler stop (Plessenburg). Here you turn onto the path towards Ilsestein and follow the path past the Paternosterklippen to the viewpoint Ilsestein. From here, you continue downhill to Ilsenburg.
