Directions: The tour leads through the historic city center of Bernau past the Steintor along the nearly completely preserved city wall. Before leaving the city heading north, it's worth taking a look at the Marienkirche, which is counted among the most beautiful and remarkable churches in the Märkische region. The cycle path continues towards Liepnitzsee, where the UNESCO World Heritage Bauhaus Memorial Bundesschule is located. A detour to the cleanest lake in the nature park, Liepnitzsee, is worthwhile at any time of the year. An asphalt path leads directly to the shore. Those interested can learn a lot about local tree species on the established forest educational trail. During the summer months, the forest pool at Liepnitzsee opens its doors. The tour continues towards Wandlitz. The Barnim Panorama in the old village center invites you to an exploration journey. The history of Barnim is told on 1,650 m² from the ice age wilderness to the modern cultural landscape. In the outdoor area, show gardens and a discovery path invite you to actively explore. The bike tour goes through Basdorf, past Gorinsee to Hobrechtsfelde. If you want to learn something about the former sewage fields and the surroundings, visit the old granary and the exhibition in this special ambiance. There is also a petting zoo and a playground. Not far away, you will reach the large area of Schönower Heide. With a bit of luck, you can observe wild horses on the way there. Two well-developed circular paths invite you to explore the heath and the wildlife enclosure, where fallow deer, mouflon, and red deer moving freely throughout the area can be observed all year round. The tour leads back to Bernau via Schönow.
