The Stüberlweg can either be walked as a "one-way trail" to the Bräustüberl Aldersbach from the Aidenbach market square (approx. 3.6 km) or as a circular route from the parking lot of the Aldersbach brewery via Aidenbach back to the Bräustüberl (approx. 6.7 km).
Yellow signs indicate the Stüberlweg from the market square in Aidenbach from the little alley near the ice cream parlor "Il Doge". It leads north through idyllic housing estates via the Baron von Aretin forest to Aldersbach. People like to stop off there at the Bräustüberl, hence the name "Stüberlweg".
The path leads partly along the historic Ochsenstraße, which in the Middle Ages was the supra-regional connecting route for cattle drives from Hungary to Nuremberg and Regensburg. In the 1950s, the current "Stüberlweg" was often used as a practical connection between Aidenbach and Aldersbach, when not everyone was motorized. However, it was not signposted (with wooden signposts) until around 1967, when the "Fremdenverkehr Gästedienst e.V." association became active. The route of the path has since changed slightly a few times because the Aretin gravel pit has expanded due to gravel extraction.
The possibility of using the cycle path on the former railroad line has created a circular route. The Hubertusweg along the Volksfestplatz takes you via the Unterer Markt (parking deck) to the large, beautiful Aidenbach market square, which invites you to linger. The entrance to the "Stüberlweg" is signposted again at the ice cream parlor. Simply follow the yellow markings along the entire route (see photo).
In spring 2016, the Stüberlweg was completely renovated by the Aidenbach and Aldersbach building yards in time for the state exhibition "Beer in Bavaria" with the large-scale installation of granite material. It is now paved and can also be used by all-terrain baby carriages (and baby carriages), as long as you can manage the occasional inclines along the path. The trail is typical of the hilly landscape of Lower Bavaria: it goes downhill and uphill with beautiful viewpoints, you can enjoy the tranquillity of nature, benches invite you to linger and fresh forest air flows through your lungs in the "Edelsbrunner Tal" nature reserve.
Since 2021, Getränke Abel has been offering the so-called Wegwein or Wegbier enjoyment hikes along the Stüberlweg trail. After registering a group in advance, wine or beer is deposited in chilled boxes along the route, depending on taste, or you are given a rucksack to take with you on your journey. The group enjoys selected wines and Aldersbach beer specialties on the Stüberlweg in beautiful places and in beautiful nature.
