Circular route Steinbergruine - O6 - Ostwig

Stone ruin (smokestack from 1854), panoramic views, Alexander tunnel, shelter at the Steinberg. At the starting and finishing point, there is a water treading place in the "Elpe" which provides a welcome cooling after the hike.
The hike starts at the hiking car park at the exit of the village Ostwig (towards Gevelinghausen). There is also a hiking board showing the path marked with "06".
First, we cross the street and follow the trail uphill towards the Stone ruin. This first section is a challenging mountain path that winds up the Steinberg. Once at the top, there is a beautiful panoramic view over the Ruhr valley. A seating area invites for a rest and climbing up to the Stone ruin is worth it. We continue on a path to the cross on the Steinberg. In the further course, we follow the trail sign O6 or circular route Stone ruin on forest and woodland paths towards Gevelinghausen. There we encounter the Kneipp hiking trail of Olsberg, but turn right and hike on a narrow path through a spruce forest towards Ostwig. Shortly before the end, we pass by the Antonius tunnel. Here, there is an information board with interesting facts about the mining history of Ostwig. After a few minutes, we pass the open shelter at the Steinberg and then return to the starting point of the hike.
