Embark on a journey of discovery along the Neißelandtour. Experience the diversity of Silesian Upper Lusatia on a circular route of approx. 150 km. Numerous sights along the route and the charming heath and pond landscape make this tour a unique experience.
We recommend starting the tour in Niesky. In the center of the small town is Zinzendorfplatz with the Church of the Moravian Church and the Old Pedagogy. On the Froschradweg in the direction of Rothenburg, you can admire the wooden house estates, the first prefabricated houses built in Germany in the 1930s. In Horka, the fortified church with its well-preserved 700-year-old defensive wall is well worth a visit. Families with children should plan a detour to the Kaltwasser children's play park or the Einsiedel cultural island in Zentendorf. Passing the idyllic watershed in Geheege, the route continues towards the Neisse. Boat trips on the border river are a special experience here. The small town of Rothenburg attracts visitors with its pretty little streets, beautiful parks and an airplane museum. Further north, you reach the unique Niederspree pond area. The nature reserve is an Eldorado for ornithologists. The Wolfsradweg then takes you to the Erlichthofsiedlung estate in Rietschen. The Schrotholzhaussiedlung is a living museum village with numerous craftsmen. The Nochten boulder park, an artistically designed landscape park, is also worth a visit. Your tour continues via Reichwalde on the Seeadlerweg trail. You can cross the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape Biosphere Reserve along a nature trail. In Thräna, the wildlife and goat park and a "Gaudi-Golf" course invite you to take a break. Nearby, you can enjoy the panorama from the viewing tower on the Hohe Dubrau. On the onward journey, it is worth making a detour to Weißenberg to the Alte Pfefferküchlerei, the oldest and only gingerbread workshop in Europe that is still used as a museum. In Döbschütz, you can visit the oldest castle in Upper Lusatia. Krobnitz Castle is equally impressive. Via the small town of Reichenbach, situated on the Via Regia, you reach Germany's smallest low mountain range, the Königshainer Berge. A nature trail and a museum provide information about the former granite mining industry. The Königshain castle complex with its "Steinstock", Renaissance castle and Baroque castle is one of the most important complexes in the region. The almost 1000-year-old town of Görlitz offers a unique architectural ensemble with around 4000 monuments of all architectural styles. The return journey to Niesky takes you past the Quitzdorf reservoir, an attractive 750-hectare body of water for all water sports enthusiasts and a fishing paradise.
