Harzer Witch Trail - Stage 3 - from Torfhaus to Drei Annen Hohne

The 1142 meters high Brocken summit appears within reach from the starting point Torfhaus. The Witch Trail and Goethe Trail merge into one, as we hike towards the most German of all mountains. The wooden green witch on the sign trees of the National Park shows us the right way.
Here, once ran the border along this paved path, dividing Germany for over 40 years. That is history. Today, we pass through the most beautiful high moors of the Harz Mountains in the Harz National Park, up to the highest peak in Northern Germany, with an incomparable view. Schlungsklippen, Ahrensklint, Trudenstein: above Schierke, the path leads past quaint rocks to our destination, directly at the station of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railway in Drei Annen Hohne.
