Circular hiking trail Schönower Heide

During this tour, you can explore the little sister of the Lüneburg Heath! In late summer, it is just as beautiful, and you can stroll along the specially designed circular path. The color purple is omnipresent at this time, as wherever you look, the color of the common heather shimmers in its various shades.

Arrival/Departure: By car: from Berlin via the B109 to Schönow (approx. 40 minutes).Directions: The nature reserve covers about 534 hectares and originated from military use. This special open landscape is the habitat of rare animal and plant species. Silvergrass meadows, mosses, and lichens as well as woodlark, nightjar, and others find suitable living conditions. Saplings should not stand a chance here, which is why red, fallow, and mouflon deer graze in a wildlife enclosure on 140 hectares for nature conservation purposes, managed by the Berlin Forestry Commission. With a bit of luck, you can observe the animal landscape keepers. A viewing tower on the circular path guarantees a wonderful view of the heath, and a seating area invites you to linger. However, you should stay on the circular path!
