The townscape is characterized by the Umgebinde and factor houses typical of our region with many elements of rural baroque. They bear witness to the tradition of linen weaving and the canvas trade. With the beginning of industrialization at the start of the 19th century, the canvas traders (Faktoren) founded mechanical weaving companies, which, alongside agriculture, determined the character of our district until the political change in 1989.for guests and holidaymakers, Eibau offers many leisure activities, including the Faktorenhof and its museum of local history and Humboldt. The outdoor pool with 3,000 square meters of water is considered one of the most beautiful and popular pools in the district, and the existing sports facilities, including the "Am Kottmar" sports hall and the fitness center, prove that sport is one of the top priorities.in addition to the Eibauer Schwarzbier, the "Bier- und Traditionszug", which has been held every year on the last Sunday in June since 1993, has made Upper Lusatia known throughout Germany. Finally, with the Spree we have a "direct transport link" to the federal capital Berlin, at least through the Spree spring on the Kottmar, which together with two other springs of the river in the neighboring town of Ebersbach-Neugersdorf form the so-called Spreequellland.
