Description by the author

From St. Wendel to Bostalsee, you can experience examples of contemporary art along an 18 km long open-air gallery to experience examples of contemporary art. The unusually charming landscape in combination with the sculptures offers the hiker an extraordinary experience.

It goes back to an international sculptors' symposium which took place in St. Wendel in the summer of 1971 and was continued in further symposia up to the Priesberg (Bosen). Under the direction of the initiator Prof. Leo Kornbrust, an artist from St. Wendel, sculptors from all over the world created over 50 sculptures from different types of stone, wood and steel.

The themes could not be more could not be more diverse: from socially critical to historical and purely purely emotional, such as the stone "Requiem for the Jews" by Shelomo Selinger at the Bostalsee. On a total 18 km long route from St. Wendel via Baltersweiler, Güdesweiler and Neunkirchen/Nahe to Lake Bostalsee and on to Priesberg (21 km), these sculptures can be admired. to admire.

The starting point is at the Wendelinus basilica with the "pyramid", which was created by Kornbrust was created. Chiseled into it is the motto "Voie de la fraternité et solidarité humaine". Kornbrust attaches great importance to making art in the landscape to make art tangible in the landscape. He deliberately dispenses with explanations and inscriptions; everyone should be able to form their own thoughts about the the stones and experience the art in their own way.

The sculpture route is dedicated to the Jewish sculptor and painter Otto Freundlich, who died in the Majdanek concentration camp. He was already dreaming of a street that would unite people as a symbol of peace. This idea of Otto Freundlich made Kornbrust his lifelong dream. Thanks to the "Leader +" grant program program of the European Union, the financing could be secured and Kornbrust realized the continuation of the sculpture road to a "Road of Peace", which has since been continued from Luxembourg, Belgium and Poland to Moscow.
