Donau-Zollernalb-Weg - Etappe 5 von Veringenstadt nach Gammertingen

On the 5th stage, the Donau-Zollernalb-Weg leads from Veringenstadt past Hettingen Castle along a panoramic path through the Teufelstor to Gammertingen.

The stage town of Veringenstadt is located on the "Hohenzollernstraße". Here you will find the oldest town hall in Hohenzollern (1415), which now houses the local history museum. One of the items on display here is the "witch shirt" that Anna Bader, a victim of the last witch burning in Veringenstadt, had to wear when she was sentenced. The "Strübhaus", where the Strüb family of painters lived from 1360-1540, is also located here.After a steep ascent, you will reach Hettingen Castle, a magnificent site with benches and a barbecue area in the courtyard. Immediately afterwards, you follow a panoramic path - the Josefsweg - along the eaves to the Sebastian Chapel with old murals and old benches.

The hellish stop on this stage, however, is the Teufelstorfelsen, a unique rock formation in the Laucherttal valley. At the top is a viewing point with a cross and the inscription "Lord bless this valley". From here, the stage destination of Gammertingen is not far away.
