Description

From the city center of Freyburg (Unstrut), known for athletics, wine, and sparkling wine, you hike to the Rotkäppchen sparkling wine cellar. To the left of the historic cellar facilities, the Gartenstraße and the entrance to the Schweigenberg circular trail begin.
The circular trail, signposted in 2016, partly follows the Geopfad Zscheiplitz, the Feengrotten-Kyffhäuser-Weg, and the Weinlehrpfad Saale-Unstrut.
On this moderately difficult hike above and below the vineyards, you will pass by historic limestone quarries, possibly meet the miller of the Zeddenbach mill, and enjoy the idyllic view of the Unstrut Valley from the Zscheiplitz monastery church.
Don't miss the opportunity to taste the wine where it grows. The wine taverns along the route are open for you in line with the motto "When the bouquet hangs, it's time to pour." You can round off the hike with a detour to the Bodelschwingh monument or the Mägdestein.

By car: A9 (exit Naumburg) – B180 (towards Naumburg). From Berlin: Exit Leuna (A38) – B91 – B176 – B180 to Freyburg
By train: By ICE, IC, or regional train, you can reach Freyburg via Naumburg. From Naumburg to Freyburg, take the Burgenlandbahn (line: Naumburg – Wangen).
By bus: Freyburg is accessible by PVG Burgenlandkreis and PNVG Merseburg-Querfurt.
