Short Description

22.3 km long circular hiking trail in the Geo-Nature Park Saale-Unstrut Triassic Land from Querfurt to Herrmannseck

Description

Following the footsteps of "The Physician", "Pope Joan" or other fairy tale movies, FilmBurg Querfurt has grown to become a secret star among filming locations. But historically, Querfurt Castle can also compete, as it is one of the oldest, largest, and best-preserved castles on the Romanesque Road, due to its strong fortifications. After extensive construction work in recent years, the castle courtyard shines again in new splendor. A visit to the fortress is worthwhile: the museum with the current film exhibition "Really Great Trick!" and the permanent exhibition on the long history of the castle are open. The nearby Farmers Museum is a must for every family and anyone interested. Here you can find interesting information about life on a farm with animals and everything that goes with it. Check out the event calendar, as there might be something nice to experience on the day of your tour.

Hermannseck is a recreational area with a campsite, animal enclosures, and a restaurant offering selected game specialties. At the starting point in front of the castle garden, a decision must be made: choose the longer route via Lodersleben with the castle and church and return via the shorter route through Leimbach or vice versa. The route via Lodersleben takes you through the Ziegelrodaer Forest, the largest contiguous oak forest area in central Germany. Along the Leimbach and the Querfurt spruces, you hike through meadows and fields and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view. In summer, you can cool off at the city pool below the film castle or visit the baroque old town and stop by one of the restaurants.

Route Description

You start your circular hike at Querfurt Castle and initially follow Brunnenstraße. The hiking trail is marked with the symbol Nordschleife Querfurter Acht. Follow the symbol of the white box with the green bar.
